Management. Monitoring. Migration.
24/7 Onsite Monitoring
Pulse runs 24/7 on your own hardware, simply place the application on each of your IBM TM1 and Planning Analytics servers and it will do the rest.
Pulse has negligible impact on the server and allows you to have 100% control of the data it gathers. No sharing with third-parties in the cloud, it is all yours, secure within your own corporate network.
You can choose who has access to Pulse and what they see, take the burden off your support teams and allow regular TM1 users to see some of the information in Pulse.
Security is fully configurable, any updates or changes require authentication by default. You can add extra users and groups to share some of the administrative tasks .
Pulse allows you to monitor your system live in both the web interface and the rich Windows client.
All of the important metrics are in one convenient place: CPU, memory, logged in users, message logs, etc.
The Windows client allows you to pause and rewind history by clicking on the interactive performance charts.
You can also filter both session users and message logs to display only the items you are interested in.
Pro-active Alerts can be configured based on multiple scenarios and triggers. Allowing you to rectify problems BEFORE they become an issue. Alert types include memory use, free disk space, wait time, TM1 crashes, error logs, message logs, run time, etc.
Alerts can be restricted to particular days and times to stop erroneous messages due to scheduled maintenance.
Multiple notification groups can be created to send to different people based on alert types. Alerts are displayed in both the console, windows client and can be sent via email or as a push notification to smart phones and tablets. iPhones, iPads and Android devices are supported.
Generate relationship diagrams from your models to understand how the objects interact. Pulse is able to automatically determine relationships in rules, feeders and Turbo Integrator processes.
Output diagrams to PDF for printing and distribution or use the interactive diagrams available in the web interface.
Produce technical documentation at the click of a button. Pulse interrogates your TM1 model extracting important information about each object: cubes, dimensions and processes.
Relationships are added as well as information about views and subsets to give you a full picture of what the model contains.
You can then add your own commentary to each object providing context for what the system is used for.
Pulse comes with a number of built-in rules that identify common pitfalls that may slow the system or make support difficult.
Naming conventions are also validated allowing you to build consistent and easy to maintain systems.
All of these validations can be changed and added to according to your own best practices.
Automated Change Tracking
Automatically save all changes to TM1 objects to source control by author.
Record the history of all model changes
Changes recorded by user and time
View any prior version
View differences to previous versions
View developer metrics: number of changes, lines of code, etc
Documentation is updated automatically
Easily identify what has been changed
Migration Packages are repeatable
Packages can be applied to multiple servers
View history of who has applied changes
Non-TM1 developers can apply complicated changes
Move cubes, dimensions, rules, process and chores
Add multiple changes to a migration package
Easily identify changes from source control
Compare changes to target server for incremental updates
Interactive Model Navigation
View and interact with documentation of your model by clicking on each object and their relationships.
Rules and processes can be easily viewed in the Pulse website with easy navigation features allowing you to jump between rules and lines of code.
All of the important properties and statistics are right there at your fingertips.
The dashboard allows you to monitor the whole server at a glance, see how it is performing and quickly navigate to the problem if you see an issue.
For each TM1 instance you can see the longest running process or who is waiting the longest. Perfect for a large screen in the corner of the office so the whole team can see what is happening on your servers.
Excel Usage Tracking
The close integration of Excel and TM1 has been one of the driving factors in the success of the platform. Spreadsheets are the tool of choice for people who want to crunch numbers and model complex scenarios.
It can also be seen as a weakness however "silos of information", "multiple versions of the truth" and "unsupportable" are all regular comments levelled at Excel.
Pulse for TM1 allows the best of both worlds by tracking the use of Excel Workbooks within your corporate environment. See who has what open, what Workbooks are being used the most and what isn't being used.
TM1 Web Logging
Pulse for TM1 allows you to track how TM1 Web is being used, each time a user moves between web sheets and cube views it is logged to the Pulse database. Quickly see the current open web sheets so you can determine what is causing long running queries or slowing the system.
Use the TM1 Web logging during UAT to determine whether all of the system was tested as required.
Optimise your investment in TM1 or Cognos Express using the built-in License Optimisation reports in Pulse. Know exactly who is using the system and when. Ensure compliance with your current licenses or determine who isn't using the system so that they can be reallocated to other people.
The rich information on each user also gives you insights into which users need extra training and those who are your "power users".
Empower your users to verify the success of overnight chores and processes with System Verification. The Pulse for TM1 website allows users to view the "last status" of chores and processes at any time and view any errors that may have occurred.
No more phone calls first thing in the morning asking whether your data has been updated. You can turn this feature on and off using Pulse security if you would prefer no access.
Compare the performance of your system over time using Pulse's own flexible Report Writer. All of the information gathered by Pulse can be retrieved and displayed on screen or added to PDF and Microsoft Word reports. These reports can be predefined and generated as required saving you time and providing consistent reporting to your stakeholders.
Information that you can report on includes:
